Catalog of Drinking Water-related Products in China(2011)
For the purpose of strengthening the management and supervision of drinking water related products in China, the Catalog of drinking water-related products was released on 22nd September 2011 by the Ministry of Health of China. The Catalog has replaced previous version issued in 2007.
Any products that fall within the scope of this Catalog are considered as drinking water-related product in China. Any companies who plan to place drinking water-related products on Chinese market must apply for and obtain a hygiene license. Any foreign companies wishing to obtain a hygiene license must appoint a Chinese Responsible Agent to deal with this application.
Any products outside the scope of this catalog are forbidden to be used as the drinking water-related products.
Drinking water-related products refer to transmission and distribution equipment, protective material, water treatment material, water treatment device and other new materials and chemical substances which will contact drinking water during the production and supply of drinking water.

Polyaluminum chloride (basic aluminum chloride, hydroxy-aluminum chloride), ferric sulfate, ferrous sulfate, ferric chloride, aluminum chloride, aluminum sulfate (alum), polyacrylamide, sodium silicate (water glass) and their ready-mixture products.

Category V: Drinking water treatment device
- Treatment device with tap-water source
Activated carbon water purifier, coarse filter water purifier, microfiltration water purifier, ultrafiltration water purifier, demineralized water purifier, ion exchange device, distilled water device, electrodialysis water device, reverse osmosis water purifier, nanofiltration water purification and so on.
- Treatment device with ground water and/or surface water source (Water flux ≤ 25m3 per hour)

Chlorine dioxide generator, ozone generator, hypochlorite generator, ultraviolet disinfection
Category VI: Other new materials and chemical substances to be in contact with drinking water that not listed in previous 5 categories are also considered as drinking water-related products.
