Taiwan's second supplementary existing chemical substance nomination (ECN) starts on 1 June 2014 and ends on 31 July 2014

7 May 2014, Taiwan has published a guidance and FAQ about the second supplementary existing chemical substance nomination on its website. Companies now can submit second supplementary existing chemical substance nominations (ECN) for the substances that were imported, manufactured, handled, used, sold in Taiwan prior to 31 Dec 2011.

Background

-          ECN ended on December 31, 2010. More than 5,000 companies completed nominations;

-          The first supplementary ECN ended in 2012. A total of 79,000 substances were nominated;

-          New substance notification is required from the beginning of 2015.

Period for the Second Supplementary ECN

June 1 - July 31, 2014(2 months only)

Applicability

For the substances that were imported, manufactured, handled, used, sold in Taiwan during the period of January 1, 1993 to December 31, 2011. Substances already listed in draft existing chemical substance inventory are NOT required to be nominated.

Limitation

Maximum one application per company. Companies outside of Taiwan can also submit existing chemical substance nominations.

1. CAS number;

2. English chemical name(IUPAC name preferred);

3. Chinese chemical name(must meet Chinese nomenclature rules);

4. Annually average weight tonnage (the average amount for the three years prior to the nomination);

5. Company profile:

(4) Fax number

6. Supporting documentation (Customs clearance certificate, contract, invoice, etc)
