30% of all alcoholic beverage consumed globally is adulterated

Recently, a company in Belgium sponsored a survey regarding wines' quality on a global scale. The company named Selinko which aims to prevent counterfeit and shoddy products.

Selinko made an investigation to 250 wine producers in 6 countries. They found that only 29% vintners take certain measures to avoiding wine counterfeit problem. The other vintners had done nothing. The major reason why such small part of vintners take measures is that they were worried about the sale of quality goods will be influenced.

The International Center for Alcohol Policies (ICAP) found that 30% of all alcoholic beverage consumed globally is adulterated nowadays. For China, the market situation of alcoholic beverage is much more serious. Observers estimated that about 50%~80% of all wines consumed in China is adulterated last year.
