China MoA Imposed Tough Penalties on Counterfeit Pesticide Manufacturers

Recently, China Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) has issued "Written Decision on the Administrative Penalty". In accordance with the Regulations on Pesticide Administration, 11 pesticide registration certificates of 9 pesticide enterprises were revoked.

The revoked products and pesticide registration certificates are listed below:

It is reported that, some of those punished enterprises either illegally added unregistered substances to the products or used other active ingredients to counterfeit the real ones. Among the revoked 11 products, it was found that methyl parathion, a banned pesticide, was added to 20% Cypermethrin•Dimethoate EC produced by Yangzhoushi Suling Agricultural Chemicals Co., Ltd, and pyridaben was found to be counterfeited as imidacloprid in 10% imidacloprid WP produced by Hunan Dafang Agricultural Chemicals Co., Ltd. Once those counterfeit pesticides are manufactured and used, they may have serious impact on the safety of agricultural production, agricultural product quality and ecological environment.

In recent years, China MoA are focusing on fighting against the production and distribution of counterfeit pesticides, especially for those containing insufficient active ingredient, and those being illegally added with restricted high toxic pesticides or other hidden ingredients. China MoA will strengthen random inspection over pesticide production enterprises.
