New Restriction Section Opened on ECHA Website
November 5, 2009
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has opened a new subsection on its website for REACH Restriction. The new web pages describe restrictions and the procedure for new restrictions.
The new Restriction subsection gives Member States Competent Authorities and stakeholders an easy access to core information on restrictions and also facilitates access to the relevant guidance documents and the submission format used for the preparation of a Restriction proposal.
The Restrictions under REACH is a safety net to address unacceptable risks to human health or the environment, arising from the manufacture, use or placing on the market of substances, which need to be addressed on a Community-wide basis. Restriction means any condition for or prohibition of the manufacture, use or placing on the market of substances. Any substance on its own, in a preparation or in an article may be subject, where justified, to restrictions.
