from CIRS by

Introduction

11 March 2019, Taiwan EPA released the Amended Regulation of New and Existing Chemical Substances Registration (hereinafter referred to as Regulation). This regulation lists the 106 Designated Chemical Substances subject to standard registration, and the corresponding registration tonnage band, registration deadline. The standard registration of designated chemical substances started from Jan 1, 2020.

In Sep of 2019, Taiwan EPA issued the revised Guidance for Standard Registration of Designated Chemical Substances by stages (draft) to help the industries to understand the regulation and teach them how to comply with the standard registration of designed chemical substances.

For the substances that obtained the phase I registration number before Dec 31, 2019, the company should finish standard registration before Dec 31, 2022, if the tonnage is less than 100 ton/y; and should finish the standard registration before Dec 31, 2021, if the tonnage is above 100 ton/y. Companies are forbidden to manufacture or import these 106 substances into Taiwan after the deadline, unless they finish the registration.
